World Leader

The Resume

    (February 14, 1967- )
    Born in The Hague, Netherlands
    Member of Parliament (2003– )
Leader of the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (2006– )
Prime Minister of the Netherlands (socialist, 2010– )
2016 Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Crown <4310(Belgium)
2019 Honorary Companion of the Order of Australia

Why he might be annoying:

‘Rubbery ROO-tah’ is but one of his nicknames.
A liberal had not been appointed prime minister in nine decades!
He gained another nickname (‘Teflon Mark’) for his knack for coming out of one scandal after another without so much as a scratch.
A lawmaker he invited to work on a 2006 election campaign claimed he spoke ‘with two tongues’ about being in the European Union.
Even in his fourth term, teaching social studies for two hours a week at college in The Hague is not exactly what most people would consider being a teacher.

Why he might not be annoying:

Only one Dutch prime minister was younger than he was at inauguration.
Having attended the Maerlant Lyceum for several years, he was looking to become a concert pianist.
Unlike many other world leaders – Boris Johnson in particular – he adhered to Coronavirus protocols even with the death of his 96-year-old mother (in her case, two months after the declaration).
When the cabinet from his third term resigned over the nation’s child welfare fraud scandal (2021), he offered his own resignation to the King.
Though openly heterosexual, he remained unmarried through public life.
