Chris Berman nicknamed him Kirt 'What's That' Manwaring.
He broke his finger during the 1991 season.
His weak hitting resulted him being traded to the Astros for Rick Wilkins and cash (1996).

He left the Giants with 704 games as a catcher and 52 double plays turned.
