Why he might be annoying:

    He was a smoker.
    He never played professionally.
    He originally left the Argos on sour terms, after he returned to the club after World War II.
    He served as the head coach of the Toronto Huskies for a single game.
    His second tenure with the Argos was less successful then his first.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He grew up in Paterson, New Jersey to a Jewish family.
    He guided the Argos to a Grey Cup title at the age of 25 (1933).
    He was credited with being the first head coach to recruit players of color to play in the Canadian Football League.
    He got his Canadian citizenship and served in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces.
    He brought Canadian football to Montréal, when he founded the Alouettes.
    He was considered one of the founding fathers of the modern CFL.
    He was the first CFL coach to implement playing night games, Sunday games and having games televised.
    In honor of his contributions, the CFL named its East Division outstanding player award in his honor.
    He went 5-0 in the Grey Cup game.
    His teams were known for employing a high powered offensive scheme, that was difficult for defenders to stop.
    He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame (1975).
