Why he might be annoying:

    His birth name was Kermit.
He was a one-hit wonder as a songwriter.
His weekly schtick on the Dean Martin Show involved him sitting at the piano and maintaining a stoic face as Martin hurled verbal zingers at him.

Why he might not be annoying:

He worked with Frank Sinatra on radio and television.
He followed Sinatra to Los Angeles, where he worked as an accompanist to Dinah Shore.
He served as accompanist and straight man to Martin for twenty five years.
Dean Martin's 1964 cover of 'Everybody Loves Somebody' hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, knocking The Beatles' 'A Hard Day's Night' out of the slot.
'Everybody Loves Somebody' supplanted 'That's Amore' as Dean Martin's signature song, and it became the theme sung weekly on Martin's eponymous variety show.
'Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime' even appears on Martin's grave marker in Los Angeles.
