Why he might be annoying:

He will forever be known, especially outside of the UK, mostly for Soft Cell's massive hit 'Tainted Love.'
He is flamboyant.
Many of his lyrics deal with topics like sex, drugs, prostitutes and transvestites.
After leaving Soft Cell, he had several minor hits in the UK, but was mostly forgotten in the US.
He is heavily tattooed, especially on his arms.
He is a Satanist.

Why he might not be annoying:

'Tainted Love' is one of the most famous one hit wonder songs ever.
He has released several books of poetry.
He has had moderate success in the UK as a solo artist.
He is openly gay.
He does not want to be thought of as a 'gay artist,' because he feels it implies that his work is only of interest to gays.
Musicians he has collaborated with include Nico, Siouxie Sioux and J.G. Thirwell of Foetus.
He was severely injured in a motorcycle accident in October 2004. Initially his prognosis was poor, but he was soon discharged and said to be making a 'remarkable' recovery.
