Born in New York City, New York
    Comic book artist
    Middle name is Edward
Co-founder of the graphic design studio Continuity Associates

Why he might be annoying:

His name sounds similar to that of Steve McQueen's first wife.
He drew for Superman vs. Muhammad Ali in 1978.
He modeled his design for Ra's al Gul on yellow peril icon Dr. Fu Manchu.
His attempt at starting his own comic company - Continuity Comics - was short-lived, embroiled in legal and financial troubles, and folded in 1994 after ten years.
He believed in the expanding Earth hypothesis and pushed it both in comics he wrote and in a DVD documentary he wrote and produced.

Why he might not be annoying:

He revitalized Batman and gave him a darker look (Frank Miller usually gets all the credit).
With writer Dennis O'Neil, he completely revamped the Green Lantern and Green Arrow characters, introducing mature storylines that tackled topics like pollution and racism.
Most controversial was a storyline that saw Green Arrow's sidekick Speedy be revealed to have a drug addiction.
He was ahead in terms of representation, creating the John Stewart/Green Lantern character - one of the first mainstream African-American superheroes in comics.
He was a creators-rights advocate who helped secure a pension and recognition for Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
He was inducted into the Eisner Awards' Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1998.
