Why he might be annoying:

    His poor academic standing in high school led him to be disqualified from getting a college scholarship.
    He was arrested for drunk driving (2007).
    He earned a fine and a two game suspension from head coach Jack Del Rio as a result of the incident.
    He was primarily used as a reserve player during his two years with the Jaguars.
    His shooting incident was a result of a revenge ploy from a man he punched in a Jacksonville area night club months earlier.
    His personalized vanity plate allowed his assailant to follow his vehicle (although he wasn't driving it) and open fire when it was parked.

Why he might not be annoying:

    His shooting was the third in an 18 month span involving active NFL players, following the 2007 deaths of Darrent Williams and Sean Taylor.
    He worked at Wal-Mart in the produce section during his hiatus from football, before enrolling at Valdosta State University.
    He vowed to reform himself in wake of the drunk driving charge he faced.
    He was able to stand up at his wedding with the aid of both a specialized back brace and a prosthetic limb.
    He served as an outspoken advocate for justice on gun violence, following the murder of New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith, who was shot to death in a 2016 altercation.
