Jack Webb ordered the entire cast get clean-cut military style haircuts.
The first captain was named Dick Hammer (now that is a real porn name).
To a paramedic, the most realistic part of the show was the siren.

Why Emergency! might not be annoying:

It introduced paramedics to the TV audience.
Viewers learned actual emergency and life saving techniques. Some credited it with actually saving lives.
It inspired youngsters to enter the field of paramedics.
