Why he might be annoying:

His name sounds too close to that of Eva Longoria.
As a result of the name, he is frequently the target of many 'Desperate Housewives' jokes.
While playing in the minors, many opposing teams would post the actresses picture on the Jumbotrons when he came up to bat.
He originally intended to major in kinesiology, but dropped out citing it was too time consuming during the baseball season.
Despite the hype he received coming into the 2008 season, he failed to make the Rays Opening Day roster.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was considered the best pure hitter in his draft class by baseball pundits.
He made an immediate impact upon his callup from the minors.
He earned the final spot on the American League All-Star roster through the fan balloting (2008).
In a classy move, he gave Eva Longoria a Rays AL Championship shirt when the latter gave him a bottle of champagne following the Rays ALCS victory.
He was the first AL rookie in eleven years to win the R.O.Y. honors on a unanimous vote.
