Politician

The Resume

    (June 6, 1970- )
    Born in Detroit, Michigan
Member of the Michigan House of Representatives (1996-2001)
    Mayor of Detroit, Michigan (2002-2008)
Vice President of the National Conference of Democratic Mayors
    Nicknamed 'The Hip-Hop Mayor'
Became the mayor of Detroit at the age of 31

Why he might be annoying:

He has a law degree, but he never became a practicing attorney.
    His parents were career politicians.
He was accused of using city issued credit cards to pay for thousands of dollars worth of spa massages, extravagant dining and champagne.
In 2005, Time magazine named him one of America's worst Big-City mayors.
His father once compared criticism of his mayoral conduct to Nazi propaganda.
Shortly after that, his campaign compared criticism of him to lynch mobbing.
He reportedly hosted a party with strippers in his Mayoral mansion that was broken up when his wife came home unexpectedly.
One of the reported strippers, Tamara Greene, was murdered shortly before she was scheduled to go public with details of the party.
During his 2008 State of the City address, he used the word 'nigger' on several occasions.
In 2008, he was caught having an extra-marital affair with his chief of staff.
This was discovered through at least 14,000 text messages communicated between the two.
He would later be arrested and charged with 8 counts of perjury, misconduct in office, and obstruction of justice. He would face 85 years in prison if convicted of all charges.
He was sentenced to serve between 18 months and 5 years in prison (May 25, 2010).

Why he might not be annoying:

Some of the charges may be a bit excessive.
His campaign for the Michigan House of Representatives was operated on a shoe-string budget of $10,000, run by a couple of former high school classmates, and received no major endorsements.
He taught at Marcus Garvey Academy, a school for underprivileged children, and started their first basketball team and Boy Scout troop.
He became the first African-American to lead the Michigan House and is the youngest mayor in the history of Detroit.
