Why Dawson City, Yukon might be annoying:

Its population dropped off significantly in the years following the Gold Rush.
As a result of the progressive decline in population and economic growth, it lost its status at territorial capital to Whitehorse.
It earned notoriety after an excavation revealed that a collection of nitrate film stock was buried in the permafrost (1978).
The material found was volatile enough, that it had to be transported off-site by military personnel.
It's built on a layer of frozen earth, which could pose problems if the ground were to melt.
It was stripped of its mayor and council by the Government of Yukon, after the town declared bankruptcy (2004).

Why Dawson City, Yukon might not be annoying:

It was the hub centre of the Gold Rush during the Klondike era.
It served as the territorial capital upon entering the Canadian confederation.
It had a population of 40,000 people at the peak of the Gold Rush.
It was home to the Dawson City Nuggets, the northernmost team ever to compete for the Stanley Cup.
It, along with the neighboring community of Forty Mile, were prominently featured as a setting in Jack London's literary works.
Most of their commercial building exteriors are built to replicate those of the 19th century ones, which in turn has made it a popular destination for tourists.
