Why he might be annoying:

    His English is poor.
    His films are cartoonish and of a bizarre design.
    He is often criticized for valuing style over substance.
    He has been accused of repeating visual ideas from film to film.
    Many people hate his entry in the 'Alien' series.
    Sigourney Weaver and Ron Perlman almost drowned while filming the underwater stunts he wanted for the movie.
    He made the worst mistake a Frenchman can: being photographed with a beret and a baguette.

Why he might not be annoying:

    When asked whether 'The City of Lost Children' was too dark for children, he said it was no darker than 'Pinocchio' or 'Bambi.'
    He can't really be blamed for Winona Ryder's horrible performance in 'Alien: Resurrection,' as he wanted Angelina Jolie instead.
    'Amélie' was a critical and commercial success.
