Baseball Player

The Resume

    (April 16, 1942- )
    Born in Santa Maria, California
Pitcher for the Boston Red Sox (1965-71), Milwaukee Brewers (1972) and Philadelphia Phillies (1973-79)
    157-137 win-loss record
    3.86 career ERA
    1,475 career strikeouts
    Cy Young Award winner (1967)

Why he might be annoying:

He twice led the AL in hitting batters with pitches (1967,1971).
He gave up six runs in Boston's 7-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in Game Seven of the 1967 World Series.
He tore the ligaments in left knee while skiing during the off-season (December, 1967).
He came back too soon and in compensating for his knee, altered his pitching motion, putting extra stress on his right shoulder, resulting in frequent stints on the disabled list for the rest of his career.

Why he might not be annoying:

He earned an academic scholarship to Stanford.
He won Games Two and Five of the 1967 World Series, giving up four hits total, and was called to pitch Game Seven on only two days rest.
After leaving baseball, he went back to college, earned a degree in dentistry, and started a successful practice.
    He adopted three kids.
In Cheers, the photo of Sam Malone (Ted Danson) pitching is actually a picture of Lonborg.
