    Played catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs and the New York Giants
    Served as Cardinals' play-by-play announcer from 1955-1962 and NBC's play-by-play announcer for baseball coverage from 1961-1988
    Hosted game shows 'To Tell The Truth' and '$ale of the Century'
    Hosted 'The Today Show' from 1967-1973 and again from 1991-1992
    He was a top baseball prospect in his youth but never lived up to his potential.
    None of his game shows lasted very long.
    On one episode of To Tell The Truth,' he failed to recognize his own son, who appeared incognito as a contestant on the show.
    He has a difficult to spell last name.
    He had a colorful personality that won over fans.
    He was not afraid to depreciate himself.
    He frequently visited baseball teams to warn players about using spit tobacco.
    He wrote several books about baseball.
    He and Yogi Berra were childhood friends.
