Why he might be annoying:

He was a spiteful man.
He married his cousin Joan 'The Fair Maid of Kent.'
He ruined his health and finances by conducting military campaigns on behalf of King Pedro 'The Cruel' of Castile.
The nickname 'Black Prince' either came from the color of his armor or his foul temper.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a military genius.
He crushed the French at Crecy (1346) and Poitiers (1356).
He was one of the first leaders to introduce uniforms in the military.
