Why they might be annoying:

The band members got busted for grand larceny after stealing their first PA system from the local high school.
On their only hit single, guest vocalist Ruby Starr is as prominent as the rest of the band.
They underwent numerous personnel changes, with Mangrum as the only member left from the original line-up by 1977.
Mangrum would mime having sex with his washboard on stage.
They recorded the less-than-subtle song 'I Want a Woman with Big Titties.'

Why they might not be annoying:

They were one of the last acts personally signed to Atlantic Records by label founder Ahmet Ertegun.
They built up a loyal fan base through near-constant touring in the early 70s.
Mangrum returned to rocking after recovering from both a heart attack (1983) and a car crash in which he fractured three vertebrae (1991).
Mangrum's testosterone-fueled stage act was an influence on David Lee Roth.
