His play calling was very conservative.
His tenure as a head coach was plagued with long losing streaks.
His teams would average 3-6 wins a season.
Many football pundits deemed him to be too soft as a head coach.
After posting a 10-6 record during his second season in Green Bay, he watched his team regress to a 6-10 record the following season.

He was a successful offensive co-ordinator in the college ranks.
He guided the Packers to a 10-6 record in his second season as head coach.
He guided the Colts to a playoff berth in his first season as head coach (1996).
He replaced Colts franchise legend Ted Marchibroda as head coach.
