Birth name is Bartolome Maximiliano More Gutiérrez
    Sometimes known as 'Beny'

Why he might be annoying:

    He was an alcoholic.
He looked like Nat King Cole in a Bossa Nova getup.
He passed on a European tour because of his fear of flying.
He refused to leave his home in Cuba after Fidel Castro nationalized the country's music industry.
As such, he's not nearly as well remembered as many of his big band contemporaries.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the eldest of eighteen kids.
He was inducted into the International Latin Music Hall of Fame in 1999.
He's been called the greatest tenor vocalist in Cuban music history.
    He survived three plane accidents.
He was already a music star throughout Latin America before returning to his native Cuba (where he was virtually unknown at the time).
He formed the Banda Gigante, which became one of the leading Cuban big bands of the 1950s and even performed at the Oscars.
His refused to leave Castro-led Cuba out of loyalty to the Cuban people (whom he called 'Mi Gente').
'Bonito y Sabroso' was named the number one Latin Pop song by Rolling Stone in 2018.
He was immortalized in the 2006 film El Benny, directed by Jorge Luis Sanchez (a distant relative of his).
