He is considered one of the greatest players in NHL history never to win a Stanley Cup.
Despite his impressive credentials, he failed to win a Norris Trophy during the prime of his career.
He was frequently plagued by knee problems.
He recorded 1,429 career penalty minutes.
He was overshadowed by Bobby Orr.

He never missed a playoff game during his career.
He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
He made the NHL's First All-Star Team five times during the 1970's.
He scored the overtime series clinching goal which helped the Bruins reach the Campbell Conference Finals (1981).
He was involved in the blockbuster trade that sent Phil Esposito to the Rangers (1975).
He earned MVP honors in the 1972 Summit Series.
