    (October 14, 1906-February 12, 1949)
    Born in Mahmoudiyah, Egypt
    Public school teacher and imam
Founder and first General Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood (1928-49)

Why he might be annoying:

He advocated creating an Islamic state with the Koran as law and the elimination of Western influence.
He advocated strict censorship of radio, theater, books and newspapers to eliminate 'immorality.'
He also founded the Special Apparatus, a secret military arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, which carried out attacks against foreign and Jewish targets.
He wrote to Hitler asking for help in the Muslim Brotherhood's struggle against Britain.
He wrote, 'It is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated, to impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet.'
He said that if a Jewish state were established in Palestine, the Arabs 'will drive the Jews who live in their midst into the sea.'

Why he might not be annoying:

The Muslim Brotherhood also built hospitals and schools.
He was a charismatic leader and effective organizer.
By the time of his death, the Muslim Brotherhood had over 500,000 members in Egypt alone.
He was assassinated, probably by the secret police of King Farouk, while waiting for a taxi.
