She was a vegetarian.
She was famous for wearing crazy hats decorated with fruit.
She mostly played English-mangling, maracas-wielding Latin stereotypes.
She suffered from depression.
She had two nose jobs and a face lift.
Some say she kept a hidden stash of cocaine in her high heels.
She milked the whole fruity hat shtick for all it was worth.
A critic said her faces is too heavy, her figure is not too good and she sings in a foreign language, yet she is a star.

Why she might not be annoying:

Bugs Bunny enjoyed dressing up like her.
At one point, she was the highest paid entertainer in the US (1951).
The Chiquita Banana company based its ‘Miss Chiquita' mascot on her likeness.
Her husband mentally and physically abused her.
She helped introduce the samba to the United States.
She died hours after suffering a heart attack on live TV (1955).
