After her 2011 Wimbledon victory, she lost in straight sets in the opening round of the US Open, becoming the first winner of a Grand Slam tournament to lose the next Grand Slam event without winning a set.
She broke off her engagement to Czech hockey player Radek Meidl (2016).

She was a five-time winner of the WTA’s Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award (2011,2013-16).
She was named a Global Ambassador for the charity Right To Play (2015).
BBC sportscaster David Law said she was ‘very straightforward, not egotistical, not bitchy, genuinely liked by all the other players. I’ve never heard a bad word said about her.’
She was stabbed in the left hand during a home invasion and burglary (December 20, 2016).
