Why he might be annoying:

A Bruins defenseman mistook him for a Leafs teammate, charging him and promptly ending his ice career (December 12, 1933).
The NHL turned down his request to become a linesman.
Had his career not been cut short by injury, his number would not have been retired as per Leafs policies.
He did not live to see his jersey officially hung in the rafters, nearly 60 years after being taken out of circulation.

Why he might not be annoying:

He registered only two penalty minutes in his entire minor-league career.
Though the Leafs were dead last in their division that year, he scored 28 points in his first season.
A benefit game played in 1934 raised nearly $21,000 for his family. This set the pattern for what would become the NHL All-Star Game.
There were no hard feelings between him and the defenseman who cut his career short.
