    Over 4,700 years old

Why Methuselah (Tree) might be annoying:

    A tree named Methuselah?
Don't try to visit it. The United States Forest Service keeps its location under tight security with only a handful of folks knowing its exact location.
Its birthday was calculated by counting its rings, a practice known as dendrochronology. But nobody is in possession of a 'sprout certificate' for documented authentication.
There has been talk of cloning it by extracting its timber DNA. Yet it has produced viable seeds and will grow under 'near perfect' conditions.
You've seen one old tree, you've seen 'em all. And this one is literally 'gnarly' looking.

Why Methuselah (Tree) might not be annoying:

National Geographic did a story of Dr. Schulman and his discovery, but the scientist died just before publication at age 49 (1958).
Really, who would of thought the oldest tree on Earth would be found in California?
It was around when the Egyptian pyramids were being built.
It survives in brutal conditions, living in a desert that's one of the driest places on Earth during the summer at a 10,000-11,000 foot elevation, exposed in an area that's always bitter cold and windy.
Its location is kept secret to keep it from being vandalized by twisted publicity seekers, n'er-do-wells or any rogue termites.
It has proven to have a 100 percent germination rate, meaning at over 4,700 years of age its still a sexual dynamo!
Sidenote: Years after Schulman's death a student of his got a tree-boring drill jammed in a tree. He asked for permission to cut the tree down so he could retrieve his expensive tool and forest officials OK'ed his request. Afterwards, somebody counted the rings, and discovered the tree was at least 4,800 years old. It is known today as the Martyr Tree.
