Why he might be annoying:

He preached to students to drop out and turn on.
He enjoyed using psychedelic drugs, especially LSD with his students.
He was sentenced to ten years but escaped in a few months from a California prison and headed to Europe (September 12, 1970).
He was a main player in the counterculture movement of anti-establishment.
His friends included Yoko Ono.
He did an experiment using the psychedelic drug psilocybin on 32 inmates of the Concord State Reformatory (1961-62).
His belief was that psilocybin would expand the mind to see the insights of wrongful behavior and stem criminal behavior patterns.
Due to skewed data the program was initially successful, but made no difference in the long term.
He has been imprisoned twenty five times, all drug related.
