    Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin
Stanley Riverside II on Trapper John, M.D.
Guest appearances include Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, One Day at a Time, Rockford Files, Murder, She Wrote, Husbands Wives & Lovers, and Mancuso FBI

Died at 84 at UCSF Medical Center of pneumonia

Why he might be annoying:

He had at least five daytime soaps under his belt.
While he appeared on the NBC pilot for Good Morning Miss Bliss (1987), he would be dropped before it went to the Disney Channel. (It returned to NBC as Saved by the Bell.)
In his later years, he would have Pernell Roberts’ receding hairline and beard (basically his costar’s post-Bonanza transition).
Ironically, his Riverside character drew comparisons to two M*A*S*H characters that were also foils to Trapper John.

Why he might not be annoying:

His stage career – including an appearance alongside Dustin Hoffman – wasn’t too shabby, either.
He had three children by his first wife (who died in 1981).
His second wife had three children by another marriage; like him, she named one of them for her.
Several later episodes of Trapper John were directed by him, leading to a prolific directing career. In the 1990s, he relocated to a small farm in Sonoma County (the state’s wine country, north of San Francisco).
In the 1990s, he relocated to a small farm in Sonoma County (the state’s wine country, north of San Francisco).
