The Resume

    (April 1, 1974-September 1977)
    Hosted by Jim McKrell
Aired on NBC (to October 1, 1976) and in syndication (September 1974–September 1975, September 1976–September 1977)
Themes composed by Stan Worth and Alan Thicke
    Created by Ralph Andrews
Two or three contestants bet on which of six celebrity ‘horses’ answered a question correctly; payoffs were based on the odds set by the audience’s predictions

Why Celebrity Sweepstakes might be annoying:

It would be easier to count the episodes in which Carol Wayne didn’t appear (as Horse #4).
Many episodes had four male panelists but never more than three female panelists; in one case, Wayne was the only female ‘horse.’
Cass Elliot made her final television appearance here.
Having started out as an early afternoon entry, it was routinely mashed by Search for Tomorrow (then on CBS) and Split Second on ABC.
Almost all NBC episode tapes were destroyed as per network policy, with many syndicated ones being of unclear status.

Why Celebrity Sweepstakes might not be annoying:

Among the other frequent guests were Joey Bishop (often Horse #3) and Dick Martin.
Right down to the Call to Post hook in the theme music, it milked the horse-racing premise to the hilt.
All contestants would get to keep their earnings.
While almost all NBC episodes were destroyed – as per network policy – some syndicated ones survived.
Once moved to a morning time slot, not only did it drive The Joker’s Wild (on CBS) into cancellation, it would eventually be the lead-in for the first season of Wheel of Fortune.
