Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame (1946)
With teammates Joe Tinker and Frank Chance, subject of the poem 'Baseball's Sad Lexicon':

Why he might be annoying:

Some baseball pundits think he and Tinker were inducted into the Hall of Fame thanks to the poem rather than their stats.
His name actually rhymes with 'beavers' but was usually mispronounced to rhyme with 'severs.'
He and Tinker got into a fight over a taxi (1905) and stopped talking to each other off the field for three decades.
He was behind the wheel in a car crash that killed his best friend (1910).
He had a nervous breakdown (1911).

Why he might not be annoying:

He commented, 'Tinker and myself hated each other but we loved the Cubs.'
His daughter died at age three (1914).
He was the first player to win three World Series rings (1907,08,14).
