    She was made to wear blackface to appear dark skinned as the hat check girl in 'Night After Night.'
    She made news in 1936 when she contracted pneumonia after losing 18 pounds in 30 days in order to get her contract renewed.

    She began as a singer in Reno night clubs.
    She got the famous line opposite Mae West in Night After Night - 'Goodness what beautiful diamonds!' (to which West tosses off: 'Goodness had nothing to do with it, dearie!').

    She was married to her third husband (songwriter Larry Morey) for nearly thirty years until his death in 1971.
