The Resume

Why 3rd Rock from the Sun might be annoying:

The aliens' initial obsession with their human bodies led Tom Shales of the Washington Post to describe them as 'a family of interstellar sex fiends.'
The titles of 109 of the 139 episodes play on the name 'Dick.'
During its six seasons, it changed time slots 15 times.
The Solomons freaked out over Jell-O, believing it to be a hostile lifeform.
Season Three ended with a cliffhanger in which a character played by Phil Hartman kidnaps Harry. Hartman was killed eight days after the episode aired, forcing a rewrite of the Season Four opener.
When the Solomons return to their home planet in the final episode, Dick erases Mary's memories of him. However, since he doesn't erase anyone else's memories, all he has done is ensure that Mary is going to be extremely confused whenever anyone asks, 'Hey, what happened to that Dick Solomon guy you used to date?'

Why 3rd Rock from the Sun might not be annoying:

The ensemble cast had good chemistry together.
Since Dick was a physics professor, the writers consulted with an actual physicist for some of his dialogue.
It won a Golden Globe for Best Comedy Series (1996).
Lithgow said about the show's humor, 'We are entitled to go absolutely anywhere and do anything... We can be dirtier, we can be more outrageous, we can be more politically incorrect, we can be incorrect in every conceivable way, and ... we didn't know, don't blame us, we didn't know, we're aliens! It's just a gigantic sanction, it's a permit that we have that no-one else has.'
When the Big Giant Head mentions that he saw something on the wing of his plane, Dick replies, 'The same thing happened to me!' in reference to Shatner appearing the in the Twilight Zone episode 'Nightmare at 20,000 Feet' and Lithgow taking the same role in 'Twilight Zone: The Movie.'
