    (January 18, 1932-January 11, 2007)
    Born in Brooklyn, New York
Birth name was Robert Edward Wilson
    Associate editor of 'Playboy' (1965-71)
Best-known for writing (with Robert Shea) 'The Illuminatus! Trilogy' (1975)
Also wrote 'The Sex Magicians' (1973), 'The Schrodinger's Cat Trilogy' (1979-81), 'Masks of the Illuminati' (1981) and 'The Historical Illuminatus Chronicles' (1982-88)
'Pope Bob' of the Church of the SubGenius
    'St. Bob' of Discordianism
He adopted his maternal grandfather's name Anton for his writing, saving his real middle name for when he wrote 'the great American novel' -- which he never did.
As editor of the Playboy Forum, he would occasionally make up the 'reader letters' that he answered.
He claimed to have encountered extraterrestrials while under the influence of peyote and mescaline.
He said, 'I think the average American, if left totally free, would act exactly like Idi Amin. I don't trust the people any more than I do the government.'
As a result of a childhood bout of polio, he suffered muscle spasms in his legs for the rest of his life.
His daughter Patricia was murdered in a robbery at age 15.
'The Illuminatus! Trikogy' spoofed conspiracy theorists, such as providing a report on the JFK assassination in which five snipers working for different causes descended on Dallas.
He said, 'Everyone has a belief system -- B.S. The trick is to learn to not take anyone's B.S. too seriously, especially your own.'
