    His tenure with the Alouettes was remembered for falling short against the Edmonton Eskimos in the Grey Cup game for consecutive seasons.
    He was initially fired by Mike Shanahan, but stayed on his coaching staff after being overruled by Al Davis.
    He was a coaching nomad in the high school and college ranks during the 1960's and 1970's.
    He was fired by the Alouettes after posting a 1-9 record, despite having the highest payroll in the CFL (1981).
    He often smoked cigarettes on the sidelines during games.

    He was a standout quarterback at Lehigh University during the 1940's.

    He was involved with football for sixty years, prior to his retirement.
