Why he might be annoying:

There was an urban legend that he eaten Pop Rocks and drank coca-cola causing his stomach to explode.
Since so many people believed he died, General Foods, the makers of the candy Pop Rocks, took out a full page ad in 45 major newspapers to clear up the urban legal that he died from their candy.
Pop Rock sells declined that General Foods removed the candy from the shelves in the 1980's.
He is still under contract with Quaker Oats to remain anonymous in the public eye. He refuses to be photograph.
He was replaced with another actor (Jimmy Starace) in the adult Mikey Life Cereal commercial in 2000.
He is known as Mikey and not his real name.

Why he might not be annoying:

He works as an account manager at a New York Radio Station (WKTU). (2000)
His 1972 commercial for Life Cereal ranked number 10 of the 50 greatest commercials of all time according to TV Guide. (2000)
In the year 2000 a poll that was conducted claimed that 80% of Americans still remember the original Mikey likes it ads.
He gave up acting to attended college.
