    Credited for writing 'The Ant and the Dove,' 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf,' 'The Tortoise and the Hare,' 'The Lion and the Mouse,' 'The Mice in Council,' 'The Sun and the North Wind' 'The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing' and more than 600 other short fables
    Was attached to the court of Croesus, King of Lydia

Why he might be annoying:

    He was born a deformed slave.
    He often aggravated others with his sarcasm.
    In the city of Delphi, he angered the citizens with his attitude and was executed.
    We don't know much about his life and much of what we do know may be false.
    Some scholars doubt his existence.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He supposedly was freed from slavery because of his incredible wit.
    He was put to death by being thrown off the top of a cliff into the sea.
    Many of his stories have good moral lessons.
    His fables are known around the world and are still popular to this day.
