Why he might be annoying:

He broadcasted illegally from Mexico into the U.S.
He had a gravel voice more irritating than Rod Stewart & Tom Waits combined.
The Canadian band 'Guess Who,' made a miserable tribute song titled 'Clap For The Wolfman' (1974).
He wore a goatee before it became stylish.
He had a cult following without benefit of any discernable talent.
He made over 80 network television appearances and more than 2,800 personal appearances (talk about over saturation).
He was an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church and is officially known as 'Reverend Jack.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He sold door-to-door, everything from encyclopedias to Fuller brushes.
He spent his nights studying complicated mathematics needed to obtain his radio engineering license.
He opened an integrated dance club in Newport News, VA., not especially popular in 1961.
He got the attention of the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan and threats were made, ending in a cross burning on the lawn of his house.
He was inducted into the Radio Hall Of Fame (1996).
He was inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame (April 20, 1999).
He died of a heart attack at 56, almost immediately after returning home from a promotional tour for his autobiography.
He entered his house, hugged his wife, said 'Oh, it is so good to be home!,' and literally died in his wife's arms.
