Why she might be annoying:

Although a hip-hop pioneer, especially among female artists, she is largely forgotten today.
Her song 'Roxannes's Revenge' inspired a huge number of other 'response' songs to 'Roxanne Roxanne' (dubbed the 'Roxanne Wars').
At age 14, she rapped about decidedly inappropriate subjects.
U.T.F.O tried to sue her over unauthorized use of their song.
She recorded a song with Rick James ('Loosey's Rap,' 1986)
She was pregnant at 18.
She appeared in commercials for Sprite.
She is a vegan.

She was discovered by Marley Marl, who, pissed over U.T.F.O's cancellation of a promotional gig, took her up on her offer to record a response to their hit, 'Roxanne Roxanne.'
One of the reasons she retired from music was to continue her education.
She has a Ph.D. in psychology.
She runs a psychology practice and currently lives a quiet family life.
She works as a mentor for young music industry hopefuls.
She opened an ice cream parlor.
