The Resume

Why The Five might be annoying:

It was the brainchild of Roger Ailes.
It is Fox News' answer to The View (but the format copies Crossfire).
It gave America the cringey wannabe comedian Greg Gutfeld.
Jesse Watters usually doesn't contribute much value to the segments and more often than not comes off as a himbo (e.g. confusing Robin Roberts with Gayle King during a segment about King's R. Kelly interview).
They tend to select token Dems like Juan Williams who can easily be shouted down or cuckolded during heated segments.
Their idea of a 'good liberal' is Bob Beckel (who was fired for making racially insensitive comments to an employee in 2017).
Panelists (two in particular) make outrageous statements, insulting comments, and/or baseless charges usually without being challenged.
Juan Williams was allegedly driven off the show due to friction with Gutfeld and Watters (although both parties deny it).

Why The Five might not be annoying:

Samantha Bee counted herself as a devoted watcher on The Daily Show.
Dana Perino's dog Jasper gained a fan following from the show.
It is a favorite among Fox News viewers, performing consistently in ratings during its ten-plus years' run.
It had the daunting task of filling the 5 PM slot vacated by then-ratings juggernaut Glenn Beck following his departure from Fox News.
In its first year on the air, it beat The O'Reilly Factor in the demo and had its most viewed program on June 28 when 2.1 million viewers tuned into to see the hosts’ reactions to the Supreme Court’s decision on the constitutionality of Obamacare.
It then drew an even more impressive 4.4 million viewers for its Election Day 2012 coverage the same year.
It briefly moved to the 9 PM hour following the cancellation of O'Reilly Factor, but viewer feedback pushed it back to the 5 PM slot (it is - after all - called 'The FIVE').
The original five hosts actually seemed to genuinely like each other (that almost never happens in cable news!).
