Died in a crash during a practice run at the South African Grand Prix
Inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame (1996)

Why he might be annoying:

He was nicknamed 'Revie,' 'Revo' and 'Revtile.'
He attended several colleges without graduating.
He tried to counter his 'playboy driver' image by pointing out that he was not the heir to the Revlon fortune.
The ploy had limited success, since his father Martin Revson was a multi-millionaire as head of the pharmaceutical firm Del Laboratories.
In a morbid coincidence, his replacement on the UOP Shadow Racing Team, Tom Pryce, would also die at the South African Grand Prix (1977).

Why he might not be annoying:

Since his parents disapproved of racing, he bought his cars and equipment with his own money.
He was the third American driver to win two major Grand Prix events.
He was engaged to former Miss World Marjorie Wallace, and died wearing a locket from her engraved 'If not for you....'
