The Resume

    (circa October 2005-November 11, 2021)
    Atlantic bottlenose dolphin
Found tangled in the ropes of a crab trap in Mosquito Lagoon, Florida (December 10, 2005)
Age at discovery estimated to be two months
Lost most of her tail as a result of the blood supply having been cut off by the ropes
A silicon and plastic prosthetic tail was designed for her (2007)
Subject of the children's book 'Winter's Tail: How One Little Dolphin Learned to Swim Again' (2009)
Subject and star of the movie 'Dolphin Tale' (2011)
Lived in the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Clearwater, Florida

Why she might be annoying:

Before being outfitted with a prosthetic tail, she swam unnaturally, moving her body side-to-side instead of up-and-down, raising concerns about potential spinal injuries.
    She had fish breath.
She had a Twitter account. (Oddly, most of her tweets read as if they were written by an aquarium staffer.)

Why she might not be annoying:

She was abandoned by her mother.
Even before getting her prosthetic tail, she was quite the swimmer, with one aquarium executive noting, 'She moves like a bullet.'
A gel-like sleeve was used under the prosthetic tail to keep it from irritating her skin.
The same gel sleeve concept has been adapted to make human prosthetics more comfortable.
