Military Personnel

The Resume

    (October 12, 1965- )
    Born in Brooklyn, New York
    US Air Force captain
Shot down by a Serb surface-to-air missile while patrolling the no-fly zone in Bosnia (June 2, 1995)
Rescued by US Marines six days later
Co-wrote the books 'Return with Honor' (1995) and 'Basher Five-Two' (1997)
Inspired (loosely) the film 'Behind Enemy Lines' (2001)

Why he might be annoying:

Some of the Marines who rescued him suggested he could have been found earlier if he had followed standard procedures and not waited to radio for help.
He wrote a second autobiography only two years after his first, even though not much had happened to him between the two books.
He gave 'Behind Enemy Lines' a positive review on 'Hot Or Not,' then sued the producers for making the film without his permission.

Why he might not be annoying:

He avoided radioing for help immediately because he was worried about giving away his position to the Serbs.
He evaded Serb soldiers for six days while eating grass, leaves and insects.
He said of the Marines who rescued him, 'They say they were just doing their job. But they risked their lives to get me out. If you want to find some heroes, that's where to look.'
