Why they might be annoying:

Their name was chosen deliberately to be meaningless and tough to remember.
They previously called themselves the Chia Pets.
    They were self-consciously quirky.
Their fans are known as Fruheads.
Jian Ghomeshi lost his high profile broadcasting job at CBC amid allegations he had abused several women during non-consensual BDSM sessions (late October 2014).

Why they might not be annoying:

Their 'King of Spain' followed Barenaked Ladies' 'Be My Yoko Ono' as the second independent single to hit #1 in Canada.
Their live shows were known for humorous banter and musical improvisation.
The liner notes for their album 'Wood' contain the message, 'Were having a ball in this band. Thanks to our families, friends and fans who've made it possible.'
