    He wore a Rising Sun bandana under his helmet.
    Despite being a mainstay on the Riders defensive unit, he was unceremoniously released.
    He retired from the CFL one game short of 200 career games.
    His stint with the Argonauts only lasted two games.
    His playing career ended after he sustained a neck injury in the Arena League.

    He was considered one of the CFL's dominant defensive players during the late 1980's and early 1990's.
    He was a member of the Riders team that won their first Grey Cup in 23 years (1989).
    He left the Roughriders as the franchise leader in career quarterback sacks.
    He was inducted into the Northern Michigan Hall of Fame (1998), Saskatchewan Roughriders Ring of Honor (2002) and the Canadian Football Hall of Fame (2006).
    He was a fan favorite in Saskatchewan, and his trademark Rising Sun bandana remained a popular item among the Roughrider fans, years after he left the franchise.
