Why he might be annoying:

He smoked cigars.
He had a really deep voice.
He favored signing veterans past their prime instead of developing younger players.
He alienated both Canuck and Maple Leaf fans by trading away many prospects.
He was often criticized for being unable to win a Stanley Cup championship.
He made poor trades as a general manager.
He knocked Bobby Orr unconscious which led to a bench clearing brawl.
He suffered a career ending injury when he stepped on a skateboard.
