Why she might be annoying:

At school, she was nicknamed 'Foghorn' for her deep voice.
When her demo record was played for Columbia Records executive Norrie Paramour, he asked, 'Who's the boy?'
After the rise of Beatlemania, she was considered old-fashioned. (Ironically, she was younger than all the Beatles.)
Lennon and McCartney wrote the song 'Misery' for her, but her managers turned it down.
The music journal 'Melody Maker' dubbed her a 'Has-Been at 16.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She was the youngest female singer to hit #1 on the British charts.
She twice topped the New Music Express poll as favorite British female singer (1961-62).
The Beatles first national tour of Britain was as her opening act (1963).
She performed at the BBC's 'A Jubille of Music' to celebrate the Queen's Silver Jubilee (1976).
