    They share a nickname for an unskilled worker and gigantic tire.
    During the recording of Aretha Franklin's 'I Never Loved a Man (The Way That I Love You)', one of the band members flirted with her, provoking a fight with her husband (1967).
    The quartet formed as breakaway musicians from a rival studio.

    Their rock'n'soul 'Muscle Shoals sound' was featured on classics such as Etta James' 'Tell Mama,' Wilson Pickett's 'Mustang Sally' and Percy Sledge's 'When A Man Loves A Woman.'
    They were name-checked in Lynyrd Skynyrd's redneck anthem 'Sweet Home Alabama.'
    Leon Russell is credited with bestowing them with the 'Swampers' nickname.
    They were inducted into the Alabama Hall of Fame (1995) and Musicians' Hall of Fame (2008).
