    It was the first North American place to host the Winter Olympics twice.
    A local resident, Jack Shea, won two speed skating gold medals when the Olympics were held here (1932).
    It is famed for the 'Miracle on Ice' American Hockey victory.
    Olympians still come to train at Lake Placid.
    It attracts over 1.8 million tourists each year.
    Abolitionist John Brown is buried near here.
