Why he might be annoying:

His name, Bode, is totally made up, obviously.
His parents were ageless hippies.
He was home-schooled and grew up in a home without electricity or running water.
He has had a lousy season in 2005-2006.
He said in a 60 Minutes interview that 'doping should be an admitted practice in professional skiing' and that in some races he started in a totally drunken state.

He failed to live up to his potential at the 2005 Winter Olympics.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is the only American male to win alpine skiing medals at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
He is only the second American besides Phil Mahre to win an overall World Cup title.
He teaches tennis in Easton during summers.
He is one of the few successful athletes to come from New Hampshire.
He apologized for his off-color comments from 60 Minutes.
He pioneered the use of hourglass-shaped skis in ski racing.
