Why he might be annoying:

He has a hard to spell and pronounce last name.
When he attended his 20th anniversary high school reunion, only one former classmate 'sort of' recognized him.
He joined a religious cult (not Scientology he has said) while in college.
He repeatedly quit shows over 'creative differences' and noted, 'The more annoying, undisciplined and pain in the ass I became, the more I found work.'
He was so nervous waiting to pitch 'Babylon 5' to producers that he ground his teeth hard enough to crack a molar.
When he first appeared at a science fiction convention for 'Babylon 5,' he got booed by Star Trek fans.

Why he might not be annoying:

His father once tore up all his comic books as a punishment for poor grades.
He was mugged by a street gang, left for dead, and needed two months hospitalization to recover.
He wrote 92 of the 110 'Babylon 5' episodes.
Until he got an ergonomic keyboard, after twenty minutes of typing, he would have to soak his hands in ice water for the pain.
He is a fan of Neil Gaiman and named an alien race in B5 after him.
He was one of the first TV producers to interact directly with fans on the internet.
TV Tropes assessment: 'Give him something stupid and he'll somehow turn it into something special.'
