Why he might be annoying
He worked as a dog walker before getting his big break.
He was not the original Reggie; he replaced Ross Butler, who had to leave the show because of a commitment to ’13 Reasons Why.’
Fat-shaming tweets he wrote in 2011-12 (examples: ‘Big boobs don’t count if your fat’ and ‘If your fat, don’t look in the mirror’) resurfaced after he was cast in Riverdale.
He apparently does not understand the difference between ‘your’ and ‘you’re.’
Why he might not be annoying
His mother is Korean, his father is ‘all-American trailer-trash white’ (a self-description).
When he moved to Hollywood to pursue acting, his mother gave him sixty cans of tuna and sixty cans of chicken noodle soup, noting, ‘It's gonna be tough for two months. If you don't work or make any money, you'll have this.’
He said, ‘I think it's better for men to be more open about their feelings and to express how they feel instead of trying to hold everything together and acting like everything is okay, and to be macho and to be strong. There is strength in being vulnerable. There is strength in being honest with your feelings.’
He apologized for his old tweets, calling them ‘immature, offensive, and inappropriate.’
