Why he might be annoying:

At thirteen, he design an easter hat for his mom.
He smoked.
He constantly dieted and exercised.
His male lover was 25 years older than him.
He liked to party hard and usually went to bed when others were getting up.
When he agreed to design for the lower end J.C. Penney stores, Bergdorf and his upscale clients decided to desert him.
He designed the Avis car rental uniforms.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the best known designer of the 1960's.
He had much success designing hats and was asked to put a hat salon in the fashionable Bergdorf Goodman.
His pillbox hats were worn by '60s fashion icons Jacqueline Kennedy, Lauren Bacall, Liza Minnelli and Elizabeth Taylor.
His creativity laid in the simplicity of his designs and the ease of maintaining the clothing with just machine washing.
Although he would collaborate with others, he stubbornly refuse to put his name on anything that he did not design. Although this cost him money, he maintained a strong business ethic.
